16th August from 6.30 - 8.30pm.
An OPN event (Open Projects Network). This event is open to members of Friends of Kett's Heights ONLY. Please note you must register on-line. We have booked St Matthew's Church as a starting point with light refreshments available. This will also be an opportunity for FKH members to meet other people involved in community groups from across the city. Kett’s Heights is a steeply wooded site containing a medieval chapel, chalk workings and Victorian garden terraces and steps. It was the headquarters of Kett’s Rebellion in 1549 due to the panoramic viewpoint overlooking Norwich. A Friends group is now restoring the site. Explore the 1549 headquarters of Kett’s Rebellion, medieval remains and c.19th terraces. Follow the labyrinthine paths to one of the best panoramas overlooking Norwich.
Please be aware that there is a flight of steps from the entrance gate. There are also several sets of steep steps on the tour, although there is an alternative step free route to the viewpoint for those not able to negotiate the steep climbs. |
